Year 4 2017/18
Welcome to Year 4
Spring Term (1st Half)
Welcome back! After so much relaxation over the Christmas period it's time for a good old energetic Norse raid!
Odin has demanded that we go and raid the nearest settlement and pillage all their gold so that he may keep Midgard (Earth) safe from trolls and other horrible monsters!
We are going to be looking at the Vikings and Beowulf in the 1st half term.
We are also going to be carrying out the very viking sport of swimming in the first half term and we start swimming on Thursday 11th of January for 5 weeks. Please ensure that you have your swimming kit every Thursday:
- Swimming costume
- Swimming Hat
*Please note that swimming goggles can only be worn if children have a signed goggles form - This is a requirement from the Swimming Coaches*
P.E. days are on Wednesdays and Thursdays
Please ensure that you have both indoor and outdoor P.E. kits in school for these days
Outdoor –trainers, t-shirt in school colours, shorts or joggers/leggings in school colours, sweatshirt/hoodie in school colours. Spare hair bobble and spare socks are also a good idea. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR CHILD’S NAME IN ON ALL KIT! PE kit can be left in the cloakroom in a suitable bag. (Again please with your child’s name).
Indoor - plimsoles, t-shirt in school colours, shorts in school colours. Spare hair bobble and spare socks are also a good idea. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR CHILD’S NAME IN ON ALL KIT! PE kit can be left in the cloakroom in a suitable bag. (Again please with your child’s name).
Year 4 homework will be due on a Thursday and will include a range of both maths and topic work alternating each week.
Spellings will also be tested on a Friday - Please ensure that you practice your spellings across the week.
As the school has made the move to online payments for lunches we are also changing the way in which children bring their lunches into school. Children need to be responsible for their own lunches and bring them into the classroom for registration. This will make it easier for class teachers to be able to clearly see who is having sandwiches and who is having a pre-paid (using the new online payment system) hot dinner.
Lunches will then be placed on the lunch trolleys as usual after registration.
Today we visited a Hindu Temple in Leicester.
