Latest news from the OPA

Spring term Disco raised £379, the Easter cake sale raised £210.

Through your invaluable support we are able to raise funds to pay for the travelling theatre visit to the school and Easter activities for the children.

We are continuing to raise funds for various other projects including the computer suite upgrade and the Twiglets playground. We have some exciting events planned for this term such as our May Fayre and the school disco.

We couldn’t raise this vital money without your support and really appreciate whatever help you are able to give – whether manning stalls at events, providing cakes, tombola prizes or being a volunteer on the Parents Association. So thank you! We look forward to seeing you at our summer events.

Christmas Fayre

A huge thank you to everyone that supported the Christmas Fayre, we raised over £1400.00.  The Rainbow tombola prize (half of the proceeds of the stall) was won by Year 2 - Congratulations to year 2.

'Throw a pie at  Mr Bolstridge' proved to be a very popular stall.

Thank you to all who supported our school disco which raised £359.39 and the Christmas Shopping Event which raised £314.15.  The money raised will be going towards purchasing up to date equipment for the computer suite which will greatly enhance the learning experience of the children across our school.

May Fayre

This year's May Fayre was again a great success. We raised a fabulous £765 which will all go towards school activities and much needed equipment.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped to organise the event and who helped on the day. The event would not be possible without the help of the OPA, parents and teachers.

Welcome to the Orchard Parents’ Association!

As soon as your child starts at Orchard Primary School, you automatically become a member of this association.  We are a registered charity, manned by an enthusiastic committee and helped by members such as you.

Our aim is to advance the education of pupils in the school. We can do this in a number of ways;

·         By providing facilities and items that the school needs,

·         By developing relationships between ourselves, staff  and others associated with the                 school,

·         By helping with activities that support the school, academically and socially.

Over the past couple of years the OPA has organised many, well supported fundraising events.  These have included, amongst others;

·         Children’s discos every term

·         Christmas Fayres

·         Summer Fayres

·         Cake sales

·         Quiz nights

These events provide an opportunity not just for fund raising, but also for socialising and forming new friendships for children and adults.  Other events, such as the School Jubilee celebrations and organising the school floats for the Broughton Astley carnival, have been hugely successful, and although not fund-raisers for the OPA, have brought the school community even closer together and have been enjoyed by all involved.

Other fundraising activities we have organised this year have included a school clothing recycling project, printing personalised canvas bags and recording and distributing copies of the Christmas performances.

The money raised enables us to purchase a variety of items for the school.

Over the past year we have funded a large number of books for the library and individual classrooms, a newspaper subscription for a year, new storage facilities for KS2 classrooms, a shed to store various items required to maintain the new chickens and a contribution to the now completed Peace garden.

You are more than welcome to attend any parents’ association meetings, details of which can be found on posters around school, or in your child’s book bag.  We are always looking for new ideas and more helpers, and any input, however seemingly insignificant, is appreciated!

We look forward to meeting you in the new term and wish you and your child a long and happy association with Orchard school.
