Coronavirus Update

17 March 2020 (by admina5)

Updated 17th March 2020

As you are aware, the school is taking all measures to keep pupils safe during the current COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak. We continue to monitor the situation regularly and to follow the advice of Public Health England (PHE) and the Government. This is a unique and rapidly changing situation that we find ourselves in.

Following yesterday’s announcement by the Government, anyone with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature is now advised to self-isolate for 14 days alongside all other members of the household.

Anyone who is concerned about health symptoms are advised to follow the advice about what to do on the Government’s website:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public and nhs.uk.

If your child is unwell, please follow the usual absence procedures and telephone the school absence line on 01455 283247 and choose option 1.

At Orchard the health and well-being our pupils, staff, parents and the wider school community are our key priority. As a school we are trying to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus and minimise any possible transmission. We would therefore like to inform you that from 17th March 2020, the following events will be cancelled:

Friday 20th March – Foxes/Lions class assembly

Tuesday 31st March - afternoon and evening performance of the Y3 and 4 performance

Tuesday 24th March and Thursday 26th March - Parents’ evenings are cancelled. We will send your child home with a brief written report at the end of next week.

All sporting events are cancelled until further notice.

We would also ask that parents and carers drop children off at the classroom doors and do not enter the classroom. If you need to talk to a member of staff, we would ask that this would be done as a telephone conversation.

We continue to re-inforce handwashing and have a programme of additional cleaning in place.

I would like to reassure you that the school will stay open until we are advised otherwise by either by Public Health England or the Government.

We will keep you updated on any further developments.

Thank you for your continued support.

Ms M. Fieldsend

Head Teacher
