School Milk

We believe that eating healthily and being active plays a vital role in our pupil’s mental and physical development whilst at school. This is why our school provides a school milk scheme which offers free milk for under-fives and subsidised milk for over-fives.

Children will receive a carton of semi-skimmed milk delivered fresh and chilled every day, which provides a host of benefits:

ü  Taking five minutes to drink school milk provides important social time for children.

ü  School milk is excellent for hydration, supporting brain function including concentration, memory and creativity.

ü  School milk boosts children’s energy between breakfast and lunch, helping them to be ready to learn.

ü  Being involved in the school milk scheme can develop key skills including responsibility, independence, numeracy and manners.

ü  Children receive the ideal serving of fresh, chilled milk delivered to their classroom.

School Meals

At Orchard we provide a healthy hot meal for those children who choose to have a school dinner.  These are provided by "The Schools Food Support Service" and children have a number of options to pick from the menu. Those children bringing their own lunches are encouraged to have a healthy packed lunch, which should not include sweets, chocolate, cans, fizzy or hot drinks.

Follow link for details of eligibility for free school meals and online application form.

Lunchtime is from 12:00pm until 1:00pm. Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 are supported by Year 6 Children, who help to younger children by opening packets and cutting up food along with Lunchtime Supervisors.
